Having played with the F4U-1c and F4U-1d for quite some time now, the 1c handles almost exactly the same as the 1d in terms of performance and overall maneuverability. Both planes turn and maneuver well at speeds of 400-600 km/h, they both dive well, and maintain good speed on the level, if not one of the fastest level speeds.

However, the difference between the two planes comes in terms of the armament: with the 1c possessing four 20mm AN/M2 Hispano Cannons, this causes the Corsair to field an entirely new competitive edge. Instead of having to fear going head to head with an opponent, you can now use maneuvers such as the Split-S to bring yourself round onto target at high speed, and open up with the Cannons at longer ranges (i.e. 0.7km+) in order to eliminate your opponent before they have the chance to get close and retaliate.

If you do get hit, you can always rely on the Corsair's durability to keep you alive where others will fall.
