The parasites will be purged. So, what can I say about the Warhamer 40k franchise that other people have said? The Minature Wargame has seen a lot of history since its inception in 1987 and I have seen a LOT of Warhamer 40k games on PlayStation that will be tackled one day, for now though, The time has come to tackle a game that has been on my radar since I saw it's announcement trailer, a FPS game set within the Warhammer 40k universe.

Developed by Auroch Digital and published by Focus Entertainment on May 23rd 2023, Boltgun follows a original story where we play as Malum Caedo, A Sternguard Veteran Space Marine of the Inquistion, We've been sent by Graia to intercept chaos forces in a struggle to get ahold of a power source to close their portals.

Firstly, Warhammer 40k Boltgun wears a lot of influence from Doom (Both classic and modern), and other FPS games of the 1990s, Our Chainsaw sword is the melee attack which is logged to L2 letting us stop time then execute our enemy with L1 being a combo into chainsaw sword, The titular "Boltgun" is our main weapon that fires bolts and is not a machine gun per say but can rapidly fire by pressing fire repeatedly, R1 will throw grenades.

Boltgun's enemy roster is Chaos Space Marines, Bulky Elite guards who toss grenades, Flamers and other horrors of the Chaos invasions, A.I. isn't always the best as enemies can't see you from far away and only respond if you start firing at them, other times they'll see you through walls it feels. Expect constant ambushes as the Enemy A.I. does camp around corners at times, and when flamers are around corners, it hurts.

Map design and visuals? Beautiful, Its a feeling of early 2000's FPS games combined with a lot of pixelation you'd expect from Quake. I do take issue with the horde battles being akin to modern doom and its focus on sprinting and jumping while facing enemies, Falling off a cliff isn't really that punishing as in Slayers X as you just lose health before being warped back, Controls aren't too bad and despite some issues, I find it a alright shooter that brings the blood and gore, and heresy crushing you'd want.
