Three British ships have departed Gibraltar, after a stop-off there en route to the Royal Navy's Cougar deployment in the Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

The arrival on the Rock of the frigate HMS Westminster and two Royal Fleet Auxilliary vessels had caused controversy in the UK - coming at a tense time in relations with Spain, after recent gridlock at the border to enter the British territory.
