WedSNESday: Let's Play Clock Tower
This week on WedSNESday, Matt & Luke take a brief, fleeting, and ultimately doomed crack at one of the first truly terror-filled horror games ever released on a console: The 1995 Human Entertainment classic, Clock Tower. Luke points 'n clicks our scream queen heroine through a spooky old mansion, trying to understand what's suddenly become of her orphan sisters, and encounters perhaps one of the creepiest horror antagonists of the SNES, Bobby "The Scissor Man" Barrows.
Clock Tower was developed by Human Entertainmet and published by ASCII on the Super Famicom in 1995, following the story of Jennifer Simpson (Based heavily on Jennifer Connelly's character in the horror classic, Phenomena), an orphaned woman moving with her family of sisters and their caretaker to an old mansion, when suddenly she is plunged into a world of utter terror, hunted relentlessly by a terrible little monster with enormous scissors (Based on the Patua character of the same movie). The game is tense, terrifying, and a perfect addition to any horror game lineup.
