WedSNESday: Let's Play The Firemen
The NPCs save Christmas by strapping into their flame-retardant gear and hosing down the Microtech chemical plant in the top-down hidden gem of the Super Nintendo Era, The Firemen. Playing as the handlebar moustachioed Pete with his hatchet-wielding sidekick Danny, our heroes must battle through smoke-choked halls, blazing infernos and conjoined-but-not-unisex bathrooms while the combat the forces of the most primal of the elements.
The Firemen was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994 by Human Entertainment, better known for Clock Tower and the Super Fire Pro Wrestling series, and was the second Disaster-themed game for the studio, preceded by the also lesser-known SOS. It follows the story of Firefighters Pete Grey and Daniel McClean as they respond to a massive fire in a chemical plant. The game is a top-down action-adventure, pitting the player against fire-themed enemies (Walls of fire, moving fire) and environmental puzzles.
WedSNESday is the Level 0 NPCs weekly series where we play one older game for one episode, just to relive the nostalgia and maybe make your hump day just a little bit more fun.
