Inspired by a conversation about High Framerate films / TrueCut Motion films like Avatar: The Way of Water, one of the persons in the convo said that an Video Game cutscene running at 48fps doesn't apply to Recorded captured (even tho the majority of movies nowadays are filmed with Digital, and visual effects don't match framerate anyway), I thought to myself: "what if it's possible a Video Game cutscene uses 48fps that mimics the HFR Movie?"

thus: I've opted for a Cinematic Game....a Hideo Kojima game!

This footage was captured on Death Stranding's Director Cut on PC, using Custom Resolution Utility program and UltrawideIndex mod (https://github.com/RoseTheFlower/UltrawideIndex/releases/tag/deathstranding) to enable variable Aspect Ratios, game footage was captured at 3088x2160p (but using modded DLSS 3 at Performance), an equivalent of a IMAX 1.43:1 Aspect Ratio and uses NVIDIA Control Panel to lock the framerate to 48fps.

DISCLAIMER: This video was recorded on OBS Studios at HDR (with Windows HDR Calibration tool and In-game HDR Settings are left by default), although: there's a bug where Youtube HDR mode (on a compatible display, and had HDR enabled or auto-enabled in their OS) will output the video at 50hz instead. For the best possible experience: I'll suggest watching this on a VRR/High Refresh Rate display. (YouTube on TV doesn't appear to properly support it). If you find the stuttering/jerkiness distracting: I uploaded an alternative video that uses 60fps output (video-wise) instead.

To explain *how* I did it: I had to do a bit of research and track down the exact resolution for a 1.43:1 Aspect Ratio, I managed to figure it'll be around 3088x2160p, then I downscale the resolution to 1440p and later 1080p.

Thus: I downloaded Custom Resolution Utility program and made a custom resolution for it. This runs into a problem as Death Stranding's Resolution setup is rather limited (due to not being Arbitrary-based), and a mod was required (in case you wondered about UI/HUD stuffs, side-effects of the mod). This took me a while to get it working, but it also further complicate things as I can't use Windowed Mode. (this is before realizing I could do a double display setup to monitor OBS Studios)

I originally wanted to record it at 1545x1080, but I thought to myself: "hey, what if I record it at a higher resolution?" Thus: it took me hours to record-test-record-test until I found the exact bitrate + wouldn't kill my computer and recorded at 4K instead. :P

Afterward: I downloaded DaVinci Resolve Studios inorder to render the video at HDR metadata, and boyo: it took quite a while to figure everything out and how certain stuff *really* should've been the default by now. That's in addition of spending and waiting for nearly a week verifying YouTube HDR playback to work and re-render the video.

Throughout all of this: actually "watching" Death Stranding (Director's Cut) at IMAX Aspect Ratio at a native resolution (abeat: using DLSS Performance but swapped .dll to DLSS 3), at a locked 48fps (via NVIDIA Control Panel) and it's quite an experience.
