From one great Welsh footballer to another - Gareth Bale, who was widely considered a flop in his opening days at Tottenham Hotspur. However, he would eventually become a world transfer fee breaker in his move from Spurs to Real Madrid. Unlike Michael Owen, however, Bale would be supremely successful in Spain - winning four Champions League titles, scoring in half of those, before returning to Spurs in 2020.
