Itachi has seen a lot of things in his life. He’s carried the whole shinobi world on his back, having witnessed it’s darkness, contributed to it even, and in the end, was killed by it, having lost everything he loved to it. Naruto isn’t too far different. He also has seen the world as it is, and has experienced that hatred first hand. He’s faced it, carried it, and in his own way, probably contributed to it, if only secretly in his heart. But unlike Itachi, Naruto never gave up and he always believed that there was a better way out. Instead of being swallowed by guilt, he took his power and used it to make the world a better place. This story is the story that would have taken place if these two had truly met before everything was set in motion. A master plan cooked up by Hiruzen to give two misfits a friend.
