All through Naruto’s life, he’s lived alone. Not entirely alone in a literal sense, but kind of alone. Hiruzen wasn’t physically there, though his influence was felt. He often would stop by to check up on Naruto and provide some cash to keep him alive. The same was done for Sasuke. But one thing that never sat right with me is why they would treat what could be the most important being in their village with so little regard. It’s like building a nuke and just leaving it sitting on some warehouse floor where anyone and their mother can take it. That’s when I realized that, chances are, Naruto WAS raised by someone in the shadows. One personal belief is that it was Kakashi who, as an Anbu Agent, kept an eye on Naruto, as he was shown to do. But what if it were Itachi? What if Itachi raised Naruto instead?
