What if Yugoslavia didn't collapse?
For their part in the Yugoslav Wars, Yugoslavia were suspended from international tournament football between 1992 and 1996. This decision was made less than a fortnight prior to their participation in Euro 92. Their place in the tournament would go to Denmark, who in turn, shocked Europe by defeating European champions Netherlands and World champions Germany to win the tournament. Yugoslavia were, for a long time, among the top 10 or 12 best European footballing teams and appeared in a number of European Championship finals. Since their dissolution at the end of the 20th century, their successors in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia have all made the World Cup, with the latter playing in the 2018 World Cup final.
