FIFA 2001 REVIEW: An Overhead Kick Party
EA Sports brought their football franchise out from the dark of the PlayStation 1 and into the new analog-stick decorated new world of the PlayStation 2. The graphics were better and the match engine was overhauled. Good, right? Wrong. Overhead kicks and rainbow flicks are the easiest tricks to pull off and are the simplest way to win a football match. Tackling is less an art form and more effortless, like a docile cat swatting at a troublesome yet harmless mouse. The game is broken in so many ways, but I’m actually good at it. So that’s something.
