Why Ironhide Was Cut from Transformers Prime. The Aligned Transformers continuity started out with a bang. We got awesome video games in the form of War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. Where we witnessed a reimagining of our favorite characters on home consoles. With the character of Ironhide being featured prominently throughout the story. But when it came time for him to appear in Transformers Prime he was nowhere to be seen. Leaving many to wonder why. But apparently, he was originally going to be in it. He even had a design ready to go. On a featurette on the Transformers: Prime Season 1 Blu-ray, Rik Alvarez admitted that because of the death of Ironhide in Dark of the Moon, they didn't want to confuse kids with a living Ironhide. So he was replaced by Bulkhead after the writers deemed their characterization closer to him. As you can see by his concept art he was going to be a mixture of his G1 and Bayverse designs. Thankfully it was featured in the short lived Transformers Universe video game.
