Wings of Wor/Gynoug Playthrough: Round 3: Gothic City (Hard)
11Round 3 is set inside what appears to be a gothic city with underground dungeons, or at the very least, a castle. Even the music sounds gothic, and the first song is one of my favorites in this game. There's something about it that rings to me so well since I don't hear it often from a Sega Genesis game.
There are a lot of different monsters here: Living statues and gargoyles, scorpions, more clouds, and flying armored knights.
This level is the only Round with the Wild Fire magic. As you get more spells it increases the size and damage of your Normal Shots more than they could on their own. Plus, it never runs out besides dying. I'm keeping this magic for the rest of this playthrough.
The midboss is some kind of serpent called Peeble. His method of attack is to charge at the spot Wor's occupying by the time he shows up on the screen. Set it up so you can shoot at his head.
The main boss is Gark. He's a train kinda like Locomotive Breath with a much bigger face. Instead of shooting his face, you have to shoot at the glowing white core he reveals when he drops his jaw.
This can take a little while, as you have to keep dodging the shots from his eyes, the snot from his nose, and the tongue he pulls out to spit fire out like a volcano.
Yeah. A boss like this isn't too common, I know. This game is on drugs.
