[World Record] UV Fast Speedrun of Doom 2 Map 17 in 5:24 {No Comment}
8This map is a brutal challenge with fast monsters. Managing health&armor is difficult, dodging enemies is difficult, and most of all, the platforming tricks are VERY difficult.
I tried a new route of my own, which has a bit of the previous record route from [Ole Hartvigsen, 2000], and a bit of the UV Max route (4m15 by Radek Pecka). There are still improvements to the route I would like to do in the future, based on parts of both of these runs, that could be much better combined than what I did with this run. Still, this was quite an improvement on [Ole Hartvigsen, 2000], so it will do for now.
There are still some obvious mistakes in this run, so it is beatable. Going below 5m20 should be easy, but to go below 5min might require being more aggressive and disregarding safety. Every time I played like that, I got mercilessly murdered by the demons. Fast monsters mode is really unforgiving. But with some more luck, it should be possible anyway.
