Woohoo! Managed to beat a UV Max world record that was standing for 22 years; since 1998!

The first 80 attempts were quite frustrating as the outcome of the first room is 90% luck-based. I couldn't get a better time than 1m18, and I was sick and tired of resetting over and over again. There had to be a more consistent way of getting past the first room.

So after a while I decided to stop, and I spent more than 2 hours just testing stuff out, studying the map, practicing the final SR50 jump, and thinking about the route. Then I investigated the first room and the RNG; and it payed off! I discovered a strategy that manipulates RNG at the level start such that the first room has almost the same outcome 80% of the time.

I also optimized the route: decided to open the secret and the normal door in sequence to minimize the waiting time. I changed the route of the second room to try and wake up both demons on the sides as soon as possible, and have all live demons follow me to the lift where I'd use the lift's waiting time to kill them just before going up to the final room.

In the final room, I changed the route by going through the path in-between the two barons while always shooting as I moved backward to the barrels, and trying to damage the barons continuously, even from long range. Then I just stayed close to the barons and specters to take damage and reduce my health to 20HP or less (so the level ends immediately after the teleporter), and also to provoke the maximum amount of in-fighting damage possible while picking up ammo backwards.

Finally comes the SR50 jump. The jump itself is not hard after you have a good setup for angle+position+time. Assuming you use the descending wall at the right time to jump a bit higher, there are many angles+positions that work. So I practiced several setups, and chose one that would skip the medikit grab the most often. Still, even with this setup, when practicing I skipped the medikit about 40% of the time. Unfortunately, in this run I wasn't lucky and grabbed the medikit, which was about a 1 second loss after the teleporter.

There are also some movement mistakes in this run; I think that getting 1m07 with this strategy is possible.
