X2 - How to make money Mid-End game (Assassination)
1These videos showcase which missions give you the most money mid-game; when you save up for your wonderful M2 :-)
These missions randomly appear on stations, so have a fast M5 and fly to each in every sector to find the missions you want to do!
If you need a higher race rank for instance, do the kill/assassination as well as the Xenon transport/invasion missions!
In the first you'll have to transport someone to a station in the same sector. But Xenon will spawn which you will have to kill (you can also do this after transporting the person).
The second not only gets you notoriety, but also a ton of money (~800k): assassination of a criminal.
The only downside is: you'll have to change to a M3 to be able to accept this mission, as otherwise you'll be told you don't fulfill the requirements or some bullshit... nevermind the M6 that's just outside the station *facepalm*.
Anywho: find the mission with your M5, change to M3 and accept the mission, change back to M5 and fly to your M6 and with that you can kill anyone opposing you :-)

X2 was the last X game with cockpits (and real joystick support). It has amazing graphics and sound!
But I have to apologize: the sound effects in these videos is way off... could be the EAX and 5.1 surround sound conflicting with Fraps capturing under WinXP; I don't really know :-\
