I will make no excuses, this war is going to be bloody and no small amount of that blood will be on my hands, but the weight of humanity's future rests on my shoulders. I realise the narrow, slippery path I'm walking with thinking like this, but we are what we are: Earth's first and last line of defence against the alien menace. What is good for us, is good for all of humanity... even if it involves sacrifice. And so, when the aliens launched a three pronged assault against civilian populations and the involved countries vied for our aid, I made the best choice for the future of XCOM, and thereby the world.

We launched Operation Burning Dirge with some confidence, the squad lead by Evelynn Frost, and armed with some new equipment thanks to Dr Shen. While the outcome was ultimately in our favour, we have now made contact with yet another alien species. The most troubling to date, a floating squid-like creature capable of rendering itself invisible until it moves in to strike...

Thanks to their hit and run tactics, Grimnir will be in the medbay for a few days, but it could have been much worse, but the appearance of this new alien foe has the crew nervous. And although I do my best to hide it from the rest of the staff and soldiers, I share this concern. How can we fight something we can't see?
