XCOM: Enemy Within - Episode 7 (Unceasing Star)
1506th of April, 2015:
As our troops made slow, but steady progress through the combat zone, the warning signs continued to sound as we encountered very littler resistance from the aliens. It was almost as if we were fighting stragglers who'd been left behind to clean up... despite the fact most of the dead people here seemed to have died to conventional weapons fire.
But once Bradford stopped withholding knowledge of advanced strategic assets at our disposal, our troops were able to quickly find a single human survivor, though they seemed less than happy to be rescued, That's when things really started to turn sour. The aliens had been waiting for us, and now that we were handicapped, having to escort a wounded civilian out of the AO they took the opportunity to cut loose.
It is a testament to their abilities to remain calm and focused in an increasingly desperate situation that our squad were able to return at all, but they were badly wounded. A trial by fire for our rookie, but if nothing else good came from this, it at least brought them to my attention. I see great things in that soldier's future (well, besides the horrible, tragic, and down right terrifying things)
Never the less, this does mean that as we head deeper into April it seems we're going to be without the support of our best soldiers... my only hope is that the aliens remain distracted by licking their wounds after our last engagement, and give us enough time to get at least Evalynn back on her feet!
