XCOM: Enemy Within - Episode 9 (Burning Dirge)
1506th of April, 2015:
Much to everyone's relief, not only was Brandi Bear up to the task of leading our rookies through the mission, but she did so with barely any injuries. Though special mention must be made of Amanda, whose bravery allowed the squad to neutralise the crystalline creature referred to as an 'Outsider'.
Needless to say, as they returned to base much of the staff, both combat personnel and command officers made their way to the hangar to welcome them home. All but one of the participants earned themselves promotions, and it was agreed that we would award another Grand Cross of the Order of the Sword to acknowledge the extraordinary courage and competence shown by one of the soldiers in particular.
All things told, Operation Unceasing Star was an unexpected success, and it has gone a long way to restoring confidence and moral about the base. Now if only all our future missions can follow suit...
