Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Part 2: Rex Visits the Argentum Trade Guild
4The Argentum Trade Guild is one of Rex's favorite stops in Alrest. A lot of people there know him and admire his well-mannered dedication to salvaging. He took a visit to there to cash in his recent Cloud Sea findings.

The biggest checkpoints in this game are Landmarks. When you find one, you can Skip Travel to it anytime you want, no matter where you are in the game. You will respawn there if you're wiped out in battle.
NPC with tiny stars next to their speech icons will often tell you useful things about the game's mechanics and the game's world.
These tutorials will try to tell you a lot of the game's other mechanics, and more will appear as I progress. Nonetheless, I might keep explaining this stuff in my own words.

In the next main scene, Rex heads to the Melolo, a Nopon, at the Central Exchange to cash in his salvaged scraps, but he didn't get as much cash out of them as he thought he was. Melolo suggested that Rex was better in the millitary, but Rex doesn't like getting involved in a war...
One reason that Rex likes to make cash from his salvaging is so he can donate it to his homeland of Fonsett Village in the Leftherian Archipelago
Another Nopon, Pupunin, spotted Rex, for he was summoned by Chairman Bana for something special...
Bana has a big request for Rex. Not only a 100,000G to complete, but a preceding extra 100,000G in advance, should he take it on.
For his allies for the mission, Bana brings in the members of Torna:
- The tall, dark-haired, dark-clad hunk is Malos.
- The sleel, silver-haired, white-clad pretty boy is Jin.
- And the rather-short, yellow-clad, catgirl is named Nia.
Nia & Malos are warriors known as Drivers. Meanwhile, the white tiger, Dromarch, and the blue lizard, Sever, are Blades bound to Nia and Malos, respectively.
Blades are powerful beings that take many forms. They are spawned from their Core Crystals when a Driver bounds with that core. Afterward, they work together in battle where a Blade uses its own Ether to aid and synchronize with their Driver while the latter wields their own weapon.
Bana specifically picked Rex to help these guys with the task, but Nia and Malos wasn't entirely sure if Rex was able to handle it, but they decided to let him in on the operation.
The advance pay Bana gives Rex is to help him stock up on what he needs to in order to prepare for the mission. Rex also needs to check in with Azurda (Gramps) to let him know what's going on.
When he did, Gramps was not too pleased, but Rex still took that as a "yes" of premission for this mission.

Most of this video, however, focuses on me trying to mess around with other gameplay elements.
You can take on Quests besides the main ones. The main ones will be highlighted with a pink "!!", while optional ones will have a blue "!!". Completing those can give you rewards, such as Gold and EXP, and items.
You can have Rex salvage at Salvage Points as long as you have an air Cylinder for him to use. The better his Cylinder, the rarer his treasures he'll grab, and the less chance he'll also fish up enemies for him to fight off.
You also have to time 3 button prompts right in order to improve Rex's dive, which also helps with him gathering more treasure. These prompts between pressing A, B, X & Y will vary with evey Salvage Point you encounter.

Another thing... this playthrough was started way after Monolith Soft stopped giving it updates. This is Version 2.1.0. All of the DLC items and quests have been gathered, but I can't pick them all up yet until I get a bit further through this game.
I also do things like customize the difficult, or hard-change it to something easier or harder.

For the main story, Rex goes to the Lemour Inn to get himself rested for the job ahead. You can use lodges and inns to spend Bonus EXP you get from finding Landmarks and completing Quests to level up during bed time.
After this rest, A LOT of shops open up, and Rex learns the Double Spinning Edge.
Several of these shops sell lifestyle items. Put them in a character's Pouch, and it will give them special benefits for a limited amount of time. If you can find their favorites, then the effect is boosted.
One shop sells Accessories, which you can equip to boost your stats more directly and without a time limit.
Also, take advantage of Trading Shops. That's Rex's favorite spot with his salvaging, because he can make more money selling his treasures in an exchanges rather than traditional selling at other shops.

The ship Bana is having Rex and his group board is the Maelstrom. He still wasn't getting along with Nia that much, but Nia herself wasn't really that welcoming to her.
