Zelda: Majora's Mask Playthrough #069, Stone Tower: Fun with the Elegy of Emptiness
This is video #069 in my Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask playthrough. Link has just learned the Elegy of Emptiness from Igos du Ikana, the skeleton of the King of Ikana. Now, he is ready to ascend the Stone Tower in northeastern Ikana Canyon. At the top of this steep tower is the Stone Tower Temple, the next major dungeon on Link's hit list.
From the entrance to the Stone Tower Temple, Link must jump across the three platforms to the northern side. From there, he can Hookshot to a target on a ledge to the northwest. There is a Beamos statue up here. Stepping on the switch here will raise a platform to a higher level. To make the platform stay there, Link has to play the Elegy of Emptiness.
Next, he has to Hookshot up to a target on a high ledge to the east. Up here, there is another switch to step on. However, to keep the shell that Link just created on the previous switch, he must use either his Goron or Zora form when playing the Elegy of Emptiness. The Deku form will not work because it is too light to push down the switches.
Next, he has to return to the low ledge immediately south of him. The third switch that he has to press is down here.
When all the switches are pressed and the platforms are in place, Link returns to the high ledge to the north (time index 4:48). The platforms will allow him to leap across to the south. Ignore those three switches lined up on the opposite side; the switches that he must manipulate are higher.
First, he has to Hookshot to the target to the west, then the one to the southwest. There is another Beamos to take care of on this bluff. The next switch that Link has to keep pushed down is here. It does not matter which form he uses here. This will release one of the platforms down below, but that's okay.
The next switch is down on the ledge below. The third switch us up on the high ledge to the southeast; go south and then east.
That's another set of platforms lined up, so Link jumps across them to the north (time index 9:07). As he is Hookshotting up to the east, he should be careful to stay on the Hookshot platform because there are boulders that roll to the east and west of the platform. After jumping to the ground straight south of the Hookshot platform, he can grapple to another high to the south.
I was really lucky that stinking bat didn't knock Link off the edge. :-) Anyway, from there, Link can Hookshot to the southwest. He has reached the ledge across from the temple entrance (time index 10:45). There is a convenient Owl Statue here. There are also three more switches to manipulate so that Link can access the temple. While facing the temple from the Owl Statue, the order is right, left, and middle.
While moving the blocks, you may notice an interesting switch on the side of the ledge at the temple entrance. Remember this for later.
With that, Link has access to the Stone Tower Temple. However, before heading in to explore this temple, he will return to Clock Town, deposit his money in the bank, and return to the First Day. My Mask collection is looking pretty full at this point.
Thanks for watching!
