This feels like it bridges the gap between an Atari game and the new generation of consoles. The whole "box around the runner" and primitive graphics don't give you much hope that anything changed, but you'd be pleasantly surprised to find out that it has much more going for it. It's an intuitive enough system to allow for several plays off of this one simple template. It runs out of depth quickly and there's no chance anyone with Tecmo Bowl would ever pick this up again, but it was a start for the NES. It was also an arcade conversion and arguably the better version between them since it's much easier to control.
