19xx arcade 1cc
5A 1-credit clear of the arcade game 19xx (Japan version, rom 19xxj), played with WolfMAME 0.261. Score: 7,471,300. Another clear for the 2024 Winter Yolympics.
In this game your charge shot (which fires homing missiles at whatever it hits) is the main damage dealer. Also, you can hold down the bomb button to charge it up - you can clear the screen of enemy bullets when you first hit the bomb button, then unleash big damage when you release it, or when it maxes out and fires on its own.
There's a hidden 1up on stage 5 (which can't be revealed with the laser weapon), and a one score-based extend along the way. (I triggered a second extend in the points tally after the final boss. Thanks, I guess?)
Big points come from finishing off the boss quickly, and from killing all (or later, nearly all) of the enemies on a screen. A really high score would be well over 10 million but at least for now I'm just happy to have a clear. This run went just about perfectly up through the final boss, where I lost three lives (some of them avoidable mistakes) - but I had the resources to finish him off.
