A 1-credit clear of the arcade game Son Son [sonson], played with WolfMAME 0.261. Score: 539,810. Another game learned for the 2024 Winter Yolympics.

I'm no Son-Son-ologist, but here are a couple of notes that helped me learn to clear the first loop:
* When you respawn, start firing right away but don't move right away - you have a LONG period when you're invincible as long as you don't move. You can attack for a few seconds, and decide when to start moving again. (Your cloud will flash before the invincibility ends)

* At each "fortress" where the screen stops scrolling, you don't actually have to blow up all the walls - each fortress "boss" will time out after a little while

* When a squad of the guys who throw spears enters, it's good to shoot one, then shoot them from their left when they come onto your row, then they'll hustle off the screen

* For the pairs of insects, being at the top or bottom lane seems to be safer than in the middle. During the last half of the loop (from about 10 onwards) it's generally good to be on the bottom row, toward the middle of the row or even right of the middle, while dudes chase you.

* For the boss formations (three BIG DUDES), start by shooting them from just far enough left that your shots end just a little before the right edge of the screen. I try to be on the third row from the bottom to start. I didn't use autofire for this run, but if you do, that makes the bosses much easier.
