8A 1-credit clear of the arcade game Chanbara [chanbara], played with WolfMAME 0.261. Score: 123,100. Cleared the first loop and died pretty quickly on the second. There are five stages, with no big hullabaloo for finishing a loop.
For most enemies, pushing R+L (right on the first stick, left on the second stick) works well. For overhead enemies, Down+Up works well in between their attacks. For the spear wielders, jumping in (Up+Right) works well. And for the boss at the end of each stage: Jump in with Up+Right then immediately hold Down+Left - if your leap-in doesn't kill, they'll respond with a jumping attack that should (hopefully) be defeated by your down+left attack.
