1F-4F) Peg Insect (Labyrinth of Touhou 1 Special Disc)
2After talking to Wriggle on 2F, you will have to find and defeat four Peg Insects (one per floor from 1F to 4F). It would be patronizing to call these glorified encounters "real" boss fights. I'm not going to record all four versions but I am recording this first version for one specific reason: all four Peg Insects have a small chance to drop a Par(alysis) Resistance Ring.
The drop rate isn't great (it's much lower than the boss loot from Meling and Chen) BUT this is your only shot at getting paralysis resistance in the early game, and getting just one and sticking it to Meiling will make some early bosses more consistent.
Having all four Rings sounds nice, but the trip to the 2F Peg Insect / Ring is quite annoying. You can hold off on fighting these bosses until 4F, because by the time you can reach that floor, the 2F trip is more feasible. But you also miss out on the increased PAR for Cirno and Youmu's fights...
If you have the patience for it, I strongly recommend retrying the 1F Peg Insect for 1 of those Rings, but note that you can get through the early game without it.
