2017 Mazda CX-3 | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader
These days, almost everyone seems to be shopping for subcompact SUVs. Out of that strong demand Mazda created the CX-3, a newer face in the highly competitive small crossover segment. We have five reasons the 2017 Mazda CX-3 will definitely be around for a while.
Engaging Drive
The CX-3 offers all-wheel drive as an option, and it's certainly worth it. Either form though definitely delivers an engaging drive. We enjoyed putting the CX-3 through tight corners. Even though the 146 horsepower doesn't pack a serious punch it has ample power for merging and passing. There is also a cool Active Driving Display that keeps you focused on the road in front of you.
Smart Tech
Inside the CX-3 there is a standard 7-in touchscreen and the interface it uses is called MazdaConnect. Compared to others, it does take a little longer to get used to. Once you get a good grasp of how everything operates though, you'll find the system works really well. There is standard Bluetooth and a rearview camera of course. However, there is one upgrade we do highly recommend: the powerful 7-speaker Bose Surround Sound system.
Sharp Design
Mazda designers deserve a lot of credit as their entire lineup is very impressive. The CX-3 has some sharp style as well. There is a standard rear spoiler and 16-inch alloys. The top-of-the-line Grand Touring trim level comes with beautiful 18-inch alloys. The body is athletic and we especially fond of the color selections available.
Reasonable Sticker
Let's talk about pricing. The CX-3 starts around $20,000. Take into account how much fun the CX-3 is to drive and all of the available features and others really have a hard time competing. The top Grand Touring trim level checks in around $26,000, which is very reasonable. It even has an innovative i-ActiveSense package option which includes adaptive cruise control.
Efficient Engine
The sole engine offered is a good one, a 2.0-liter 146 horsepower 4-cylinder. This engine leads the segment with a 34 miles per gallon rating on the highway with front-wheel drive. That number drops just slightly to 32 miles per gallon highway with the all-wheel drive. Another added plus is the six-speed transmission which is surprisingly smooth and fairly quiet at highway speed.
