Does that happen? YES! Yes it does! So let's take a look at 3 gaming franchises that just keep getting better with each entry.
Number 3
Mario Kart
From the first entry on the Super Nintendo, each entry into the Mario Kart series keeps changing things up and making things better. We've gotten new abilities, new karts, scooters, motorcycles, and more over the years. Even from Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch, there is additional content that has been added to make things even better. This is a great series, but can we please get the player swap like in Double Dash back?

Ratchet & Clank
Man, this may just be my favorite franchise of all time, it's so good. Even the much-maligned Ratchet and Clank on the PS4 based on the movie is terrific in my opinion. In Ratchet and Clank, you get some of the craziest weapons you'll ever see, witty dialog, a tough but fair challenge level, and overall a masterpiece of a series. Add in the fact that Armin Shimmerman, AKA Quark from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine voices one of the main characters, Dr. Nefarious, as he tries to kill Captain Quark, it's all just so very excellent.

2D Super Mario Bros Games
I draw a distinction between the 2D and 3D Mario games as there have been a few, not many but a few, 3D games that just don't hit the mark (I'm looking squarely at you, Super Mario Sunshine!). We met our favorite plumber in the 2D world of the Mushroom Kingdom, so it should be no surprise that his 2D adventures still deliver over and over again. Going with the New Super Mario Bros platform on the DS was a risk, but one that paid off. And now we get amazing titles like Super Mario Wonder, and you can see that the development team behind Mario know the secret sauce and get things done.
