"3 on 3 NHL Arcade" is an arcade-style hockey sports game for the PlayStation 3. It uses the NHL 09 engine and was developed by EA Canada under the EA Sports Freestyle banner. The game is a pared-down version of traditional hockey, featuring single contests of three NHL players plus one goalie per team. These characters are big-head versions of their actual selves. The game allows for multiplayer online and offline play. Matches are played on a 'first to...' basis rather than within a set time limit, meaning there can be a near-unlimited amount of periods per match. Players can obtain power-ups during the game which can give advantages to either team. The game was delisted from digital stores in 2016 due to expired licenses. Despite its initial appearance, players often find themselves laughing and screaming as they check their friends, collect quirky power-ups with hilarious sound effects, and score insane trick goals. It's a fast-paced, fun-filled game that throws conventional hockey and its rules out the window.
