Post-main-quest, playing Jacky Bryant in the "Combo Contest" in Event Square's underground fighting arena, in Quest mode of Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution on PS2!
I'm currently playing without blocking (holding Guard on my arcade stick constantly was irritating my shoulder 'p'), so I had to set the difficulty to the lower setting, Beginner, for the first run, to get through the Contest. To my surprise, this won me a special item!
Then I played around with it a bit on Standard difficulty, but ended up going back to Beginner to try to figure out what the "bouncing" part of the Contest was supposed to be all about, as I wasn't seeing much difference from regular VF4:Evo fighting. And I found something, but was that really all of it?
0:00 - start
2:30 - Full run 1 (Beginner)
12:50 - Short Hair
17:23 - on Standard
23:19 - Bouncing? (Beginner)
35:27 - Full run 2 (Beginner)
44:44 - Bouncing final!
45:55 - wrap!
Forward+Kick would float them up to about waist height, even when the were lying prone, and then you could hit them again; or in the case of that Wolf in the last match, just booting them repeatedly into the fence, I guess. Combos wouldn't last forever though; sometimes your kicks or whatever would just seemingly go right through them; I wonder if that was a way to prevent endless combos or something, a random miss.
That was about all I could find and I can't say this event grabbed me! I suspect--from having played it long ago as a proto-Brad--that the next one, "Combo Maniax," will be more up my alley.
