#625 Heaven's Gate (ARC) Bosses (2/3): Unknown playthrough.
A playthrough of the potential final boss Unknown in Atlus' Heaven's Gate.
Unknown is better than Geezer, but I couldn't really tell you why. They both seem to play quite similarly (and let's face it, they're pretty clearly rip offs of Devil and Angel from Tekken 2), yet somehow Unknown is more competent on the whole. She seems just a bit quicker, a bit more fluid with her combos than Geezer was, yet somehow this just made her easier to play as on the whole, I found. As a result, I was able to show off the Geezer boss fight for this video, and I show off the Unknown boss fight in the next video. Always nice when a plan comes together.
The problem with these sorts of games is that it's difficult to define a character in the same way as a 2D game. There aren't really any shotoclones or charge characters in 3D fighting games in general, though there are grapplers and strikers, but Heaven's Gate seems to entirely be based on combo-heavy characters. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it despite some amazing design it can make the game feel a little generic at times. But this was the same company who made Power Instinct, so perhaps that was to be expected.
Oh yeah, also, the first game to have a female boss called Unknown. Man, this game's a real oddity.
