#665 Tekken 2 (ARC) Bosses (5/15): Baek playthrough.
A playthrough of the potential sub-boss Baek in the arcade version of Namco's Tekken 2.
I thought I'd tackle the new sub-bosses first, before looking at the ones from the previous game. Seems fitting, I would say. Baek is the first of these regular, unlockable potential sub-bosses, and goddamn is he something. He goes to town like Mark Wahlberg at a Vietnamese buffet; there are no survivors.
Baek, as a Korean character, utilises Taekwondo as his fighting style, an incredibly powerful martial art which mainly relies on hard-hitting kicks. It's a style also utilised by other Korean fighting game character such as Kim Kaphwan from Fatal Fury and Juri Han Street Fighter, and as a style is often utilised extremely well in fighting games, if perhaps made just a touch powerful. Indeed, Baek is pretty much the "press x to win" character of this game. His leg combos are easy to chain and destroy the enemy extremely quickly, leading to what will be the shortest video I do in the whole of covering the Tekken series. His combos just absolutely decimate the opponents and, well, I can't help but just love that. He's a great addition on the whole as a sub-boss, and is yet another example of how Namco can make even relatively plain characters stylish. Baek's a great character, and I look forward to playing as him again.
