A playthrough of the potential sub-boss Ganryu in the arcade version of Namco's Tekken 2.

Hooray, an interesting sub-boss. Ganryu, our favourite sumo wrestler, is still very much a model-swap of Jack but he's finally given some moves to distinguish him. Most notably, he's given a couple of sumo-style moves. He has a wide sumo-stomp attack, which is slow but hits quite hard, as well as his infinite sumo slap move, where he hops on one leg and slaps the opponent infinitely. This move in particular in great because the AI falls for it forever, and if you have guard damage...well, you get an extremely cheap victory against the bosses like I did in this video, where I guard-damaged them to death. He also has his palm fury attack where he strikes in succession with sumo palm strikes, and even has a launcher move for this where he launches the opponent into the air and then repeatedly palm strikes them. Indeed, Ganryu is pretty formidable in this game, and there's a reason why he was one of my favourites in Tekken Tag. He's a character who certainly deserved being made more distinguished, and I'm glad he got the attention he deserved.

Next time, we finish up the Tekken 2 bosses with Kunimitsu.

In other news, I've been hacking Tekken 5. For some reason, in emulation, Jinpachi's fireball attack barely works. It'll just work sometimes for no apparent reason, it's extremely odd. All his other moves work just fine though. Makes me tempted to cover the exclusive characters in T5 Dark Resurrection, but we'll see.

Also, don't forget to vote on whether you'd like me to (mainly) cover the arcade or PS2 version of Tekken Tag 1: http://www.strawpoll.me/13594730
