Here is my Full playthrough of The Combatribes done on Normal mode with the starting 4 lives done live on IGTV.

REVIEW:
-In a dingy corner of a noisy arcade somewhere in Kowloon Hong Kong sometime in the mid 2000's, a younger me inserted his final HK dollar into a rather ancient looking Beat Em Up cabinet. Sat alongside its modern peers its fair to say the gameplay looked fairly outdated which, like a moth to a flame, is probably what drew me in. Alas the experience did little to draw me back again but I guess it did enough to create a lasting impression. Enter, The Combatribes!

The port of Technos 1990 brawler to the Snes was well timed. Graphically the style seems in keeping with their Double Dragon series and although both were released for the Snes in 92, Combatribes seems the slightly more polished. Given the gameplay of each stage (bar the final level), consists of only a single screen, multi-enemy brawl & boss encounter, a finer attention to detail is to be expected.

Its pleasing that Technos continue their trademark of delivering combat diversity into their brawlers, with Combatribes offering a refreshing array of interesting moves such as knocking heads together, back jumps, smashing heads into the concrete and the infamous ankle spin battering ram! This comical move selection accompanies the usual punch, kick & throw combos and while the arsenal is enjoyable enough to unleash, Sadly however the decision to make moves so easy to perform, ends up acting as much a curse as a blessing. Far too often you'll find yourself mount a fallen foe by accident leaving you vulnerable to attack elsewhere. Boss fights especially can be surprisingly tricky & accidental grapples or runs become a very unwelcome mainstay of your playthroughs!

The incredibly short stages present an early illusion that the game is easy to beat. Furthered by the addition of a password for each stage! However these only unlock beaten foes for the VS mode & tho short, gameplay gets tough quickly! A Game over means just that, get used to it!

This might actually be the hardest brawler I've had to beat? Largely down the final boss who is literally lightning fast! I could only defeat her using the fastest character 'Blitz' (after countless fails as Bezerker).
