Here is my Full playthrough of Super Metroid (100%) done live on IGTV.

REVIEW:
-The question any serious collector hates is "What's your favourite game?" To make life easier, I always stick to my origins. It's fair to say others have challenged but nostalgia is a powerful master & bound by its shackles, it's almost impossible to ever shake my life long favs; Super Mario World & Super Metroid. As for which is the better? Which is your favourite child? The question is unanswerable.

Growing up, adventure games were always attractive to me (tho I never ventured into the J-RPG realm). Dieting mostly on the likes of Zelda, the idea of an open world action/exploration themed in space certainly felt alien. Even the controls feel outlandish at first, with X used for shoot and A used to jump, its doesnt take long before everything feels natural tho.

The whole game is a disorienting experience (in the best possible way), traversing the many labyrinth's of planet Zebes's varied terrains in search of further item and arsenal upgrades to progress your adventure.
The joy of playing this is echoed in every aspect of its design, music & aesthetic; all vital in painting an incredibly organic feeling to environments & enemies that's frankly unmatched in 16-bit gaming.
It also boasts some of the most engaging gameplay mechanics and controls that never cease to test even die hard fans skills with ever more complex techniques (Short Charge, Bomb Jumps, X Factor...)

The fact mastering the most technical aspects of gameplay allow players to essentially 'break' the traditional order the game is played in; collecting later items early, it breeds almost limitless potential for future playthroughs culminating in wonderful challenges such as 'Reverse Boss Order'(trust me, watch a live playthrough of that, its amazing!)

For me, tho I've previously dedicated time to learning many of these techniques, rusty as I am, I opted for the safety of a good old fashioned 100% item run with the added challenge of 100% map (essentially turn everything pink). Was this playthrough any less enjoyable? Lord no! Timeless classics simply dont age!

This is a must play game for any who call themselves 'retro gamers'.
