Here is my Full playthrough of R-Type III done, as always, using original hardware on a Super Nintendo.

REVIEW:
-Firstly if you enjoy a good rage out just listen to that endclip 😂. Its not often I'm left cursing the developers the second I beat the game but I make no apology for the outrage given just how obnoxious that final boss truly is! Granted its clever, granted it's a real nice use of environmental interaction and looks very cool but... I must have suffered through that encounter for over an hour before I realised all you had to do was jettison the Force Pod into its bloody mouth to end the fight instantly! Agghhhhh ... the anger is spilling up again 😂.

For the record, this wont be the first time I've put into words how much admiration I have for this game! I've been quoted before in saying this is my favourite shump of all time, I still stand by the sentiment that it's easily one of the best ever made from its era, and despite now having a much deeper wealth of experience to pull on, I still strongly recommend this one above most.

It's a great looking shump, and tho there's nothing so electrifying it completely outshines Super R-Type, technically howver, the game handles itself far better, suffering none of the infamous slowdown that plagued its predecessor. What is clearly unique about this games exclusivity to the Snes comes from its clever utilisation of the systems various hardware tricks such as the Mode 7 spin, allowing for plenty of creative stage rotation throughout many levels and bosses.

As the endclip demonstrates, this obviously was my first time beating it, tho it was far from my first playthrough. A combination of my history with the game and, I can only assume, my greatly increased skills with console gaming, surprisingly rendered the first 5 stages very comfortable. With the exception of the painful memory test during stage 5, the rest was kind of a breeze. Stage 6 most certainly was not and the final boss... Well again refer to endclip🤭.

Tho a harder difficulty is automatically engaged upon completing the game, having no option to choose from the outset is a shame. Still with infinite continue offered starting you from each checkpoint, the frustration factor feels significantly reduced from Super R-Type!
