This whole series was supposed to be all about point and click adventures, but with so many classic games to get through, we've only covered 2 so far! , out of the six I recorded. This game is NOT a point and click adventure, its a flight sim, and I looked at a number of flight sims to include in the series. Most would go for F-15 Strike Eagle II, or Gunship 2000, or maybe Falcon? Or any one of the other 55 flight sims on Lemon Amiga. I originally had Flight of the Intruder pencilled in here, as a film licence which nobody will ever cover, ever! But I never loaded it up, as I didnt want to harm my memories of F/A-18 Interceptor with a superior looking game. Browsing through the Lemon database, I noticed the screenshot you can see in this video, of a guy leaning over a desk, with a map and flag drawn in 64 colours. I just had to check it out.
Nobody will ever cover this game, as its not an all-time classic. In fact, its another game by Dynamix - who brought us Willy Beamish. The title theme of the game seems to run at NTSC speed, but Im almost sure I played this in PAL mode. As the game starts, all players are forced to take on the training mission. This is long and boring but I wanted to include this in the video, as without going through it, you cant progress on to the missions. In this case the missions included with the original game seemed very basic, and just a little difficult, so eventually I loaded up the Desert Storm missions, and found them much more enjoyable. (Not to glorify that horrible war, and those terrorised peoples).
I noticed some of the still screen images looked a bit like some classic Hollywood actors, so I inserted captions for those, just as a joke. Its clear the men in the game are not the same as the old actors, but the similarities are striking. Again, never seen or played this game before, but there was some action on offer for flight sim and dive bomber fans.

The A-10 might not be the fastest aircraft in the world, but then neither is the F-117A Stealth Fighter, or the Spad 7 from Knights of the Sky, and they still made flight sims for those. Played on a fast CPU, the frame rate seems smooth, but dont expect to be zooming over the landscape at Mach 2. Combat is basic, select your weapon, lock on, fire. But there is enough variety in the missions to give the player some adventure. There isnt a vast open world to explore, but just a local area to take on local targets, so this isnt as open as Knights of the Sky, but not as claustrophobic as Wings. For those who like the slower and more tactical flight sims, this has some things on offer, but the 7 missions per disk only have lasting appeal thanks to their difficulty levels. The missions on the 1.0 release can be difficult, and have a time limit, while the ones on the 1.5 release (the desert) are much better and more fun. Hence, the Lemon score for 1.0 is 7/10, while the 1.5 edition is rated 9.5/10. I'd give this high praise and definitely a 7 out of 10.
