Still with the "10 Better games" I recorded to replace lesser ones, this time its a game I played back in the day, and all I could remember was the title, and that it was a good one. So in the spring of last year I found the ADF, and had a quick go. The high score you can see was from my quick warmup, where I got a great score but sadly which wasnt recorded. The rest is all live, and this game is unpredictable sometimes to say the least.
This show was pre-edited with all the others, and then narrated, and stuff added, over the course of the year. The narration sounds a little more bassy than usual, but I decided not to fix it, as I thought it sounded ok. Neils voice at the start of the video sounds very bassy compared to mine!
After finding a whole load of Amiga Mods last year (see Free Mods videos!), I went through them and pencilled in a few or the playguides, and this floated around several games for a while until it settled on this one late in production. Voice cameo (at the end) of course by the late Rik Mayall.
This week has been pretty lazy, and has gone so fast!, with my Birthday on Wednesday, so I didnt get around to making the show until yesterday (Friday around noon), but it uploaded in time or the usual release schedule. Luckily not much extra work had to be done to this, although I've just found a nice depiction of what all the icons mean in the Zzap64 review. I didnt do any research this year, trying to save some time.
Danscore:
This title was a slow burner on its debut, and was re-released two years later. If you knew about this then it may bring back fond memories, but if this passed you by, maybe it will still appeal to many in the 21st century. The game is easy to play but hard to master, as all the greatest games are, and it has an arcade addictability that reminded me of Bubble Bobble and those kinds of single screen classics. The game does come with the proviso that frustration can set in, and screaming towards your display setup is entirely recommended and advisable in this case. Helter Skelter (or some variant) would easily work on a mobile platform today, and is timeless, like this Power Balls we used to throw around as kids, usually to the dismay of our parents. I'd give this a 7 if it was a PD game, but at ยฃ15 I'd give it 6.5, as a fun game but worth no more than a ยฃ7.99 budget title.
