It's the first real Abyssal / Infinite Corridor fight and boy is this actually pretty tough.

Abyssal Keine has all her personal moves and then some. Let's start with her attacks: she has two AOE's, Ancient History (which is DRK element and targets DEF) and New History (which is SPI and targets MND). She also has the equivalent element Storm attacks (Storm of Dark Flow, which is DRK, and Storm of Light Particles, which is SPI). Rounding out her offensive capabilities are the ever annoying Black Universe and Ancient Curse moves.

As for her other personal moves, Keine has her two Three Treasures buffs. One buffs her offense while the other buffs her defense. She actually uses them at a set pattern; her opening move will be a buff. Then every third attack after will be a buff (so the pattern will be: Opening Buff - Attack - Attack - Buff - Attack - Attack - Buff etc.). If you're not familiar with Keine, she gains a permanent buff for using these moves. The playable version can stack up to three of these permanent buffs, one stack increasing ATK / MAG and the other increasing DEF / MND. Unfortunately, Abyssal Keine is NOT limited to three stacks so don't screw around here.

The ability that drives this fight over the edge is Keine's Recover move. While she's generous enough to use her buffs at set points, she can use Recover whenever she wants (including twice in a row, possibly more if she's feeling really mean. This fight can be very tough, depending on your party setup. If you haven't been relying on DRK attackers much at all, you'll definitely have a hard time, like I did. With Keine's habit of healing, I wouldn't blame anyone for bringing in DRK attackers they wouldn't usually use, like I did with Kasen. This fight can go wrong in a LOT of ways. Stuff like Keine managing to heal herself twice, or Alice's SPD debuff failing to land at all. Kasen honestly made this a cinch. And, being honest, I felt no incentive to do the fight without her so uh, yeah. I guess the moral of today is use Kasen?

I was gonna talk about my party layout but this was right before I made all the changes (and boy did I make a LOT of changes). I can barely keep track of "which characters got which gems, jewels and tomes". Let's just talk about the characters in this video:

Marisa: I guess it's not too surprising but I've committed to Marisa. I've noticed as far back as the Miko fight that my party seriously lacked a MYS-element attacker (and before you say it, Reisen doesn't count. Her debuffs and ailments are way too valuable). I guess I just can't get through a Labyrinth of Touhou game without eventually needing Marisa.

Alice: She was added specifically to power up / complement Marisa. At first I thought she was the perfect add (she covers FIR, an element my mainstays lack, she's an extra MYS attacker, she can attack both DEF and MND) but I dunno. I don't really need more MAG attackers who can target both defenses. What my party really lacks is a strong physical attacker more than anything. Even Trip Wire, Alice's most valuable move, isn't super unique in this party (Kanako has easy access to HVY and Kasen and Reisen have easy access to SPD debuffs). If nothing else, I have found her to be a good MND tank. She has surprisingly great affinities, if nothing else.

Mystia: Chen wasn't doing it for me. She wasn't isn't in the party because I wanted Chen, she was in the party because I wanted Herb of Awakening on an Instant Attacker. She doesn't even get fielded with Yukari and Ran that often. I'm now trying out Mystia because at least she has some extra utility via her PSN, PAR and SIL attacks.

Kasen: It's weird that I didn't add her sooner. I've always used her in the early game as a tank, I think Murakumo being a SPI element boss is probably what put me off her. I regret not using her sooner because she's great. You haven't seen it yet, but she's surprisingly great as a Healer. She also makes Ninja looks useful.
