------------------------------------------

This is my all-time most favourite Sega Genesis game. I had to give it a go in a filler video sooner or later! ;)

It also happens to be the very first import game I ever played, as I had played the Japanese version of the game before it had been localized way back when it was brand new when renting it from a place that did all kinds of unique game rentals for the time. :)

Additional Information and Corrections:

* This game's actually available on Steam of all places, as Sega made a number of their old Genesis titles playable through the Steam service, so if you don't have a Genesis or don't have the cart itself, you still have a legit option for playing this game nowadays. Just follow your way through this link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/211209/

* I'm pretty sure I pronounced "Westone" wrong. Ah well. :P

* This game has the distinction of being the very first import game I ever played, as I had rented an import copy from a rather impressive gaming store back when I was 8 or 9 years old without fully realizing the concept of "import" games. I wasn't able to get very far due to not being able to read any of the text, but I remember the manual was numerous pages long and really colourful with tons of pictures, while the manual provided with the English release was black & white with little in the way of pictures. :(

* To elaborate on the boss encounters a little: Most bosses come down to just getting close enough to strike and doing so. The second-last and last bosses however are just a complete cluster of nonsense and both come down to a battle of attrition really, being able to get the most hits in before you get completely slaughtered by the extreme amount of everything on-screen! D:

* For the longest time there was a rumour running around the internet of a secret treasure room just after getting the Trident. I've tried the purported method of access myself and have searched for videos online showing if it's real or not, and I'm 99.999% sure it's a hoax. :P

* As for the other Wonder Boy games, I'm not a fan of the very first one, or the Adventure Island games in general, as I find them needlessly difficult and hard to control. I own both Wonder Boy in Monster Land and Wonder Boy III on my Sega Master System, and while they're both good, Monster Land often comes down to luck due to the way it works, and The Dragon's Trap is EXTREMELY difficult, to the point where you absolutely must grind out the best equipment to survive. Monster World IV is a decent game in its own right with its own unique mechanics and such, but I feel as far as overall gameplay is concerned it's a small step backwards from what Wonder Boy in Monster World accomplished.

* I'm well aware that most of the big-heart-containing chests will give you an Elixir if you don't have one, but I was trying to get through the game as fast as I could without skipping things so those hearts really came in handy for staying alive between Inns. :B
