Adobe Reader 9.5.5 on Linux - how to download and install on Ubuntu / Mint
Today I'll show you how to download and install Adobe Reader on any Linux distro.
As you know Adobe Reader is one of best PDF reader. Long time ago Adobe starts support Windows, Mac OSX and Linux version. For now Adobe droping Linux support in few apps like Flash (only security updates), Air and also Reader. Last version Adobe Reader for Linux is version 9.5.5.
Still this Adobe Reader 9.5.5 works on Linux without any big issues but is not anymore updating. So why some of us still need Adobe Reader? Reason is simple. Many Linux 3-party apps need to work Adobe Reader (polish eDeklaracje) also Reader is still a good app for PDF files and have many options.
If you looking Adobe Reader on official Adobe downlad page, you will not find it, because Linux version gone from Adobe site.
If we need download it, we need go to Adobe ftp and download it from here (read below).
Adobe Reader 9.5.5 is available for Linux in x86 build. We can download .deb package for all Debian based Linux distro like Ubuntu, Mint, Linux Mint Debian Edition, Elementary OS, Netrunner or other. We can also download .rpm package for all rpm distro like Fedora, Red Hat, OpenSUSE, SUSE, Mageia, OpenMandriva or Rosa. If we can't install it on Linux distro because we use unsupported distro or have other issues we can use universal distro agnostic installer in .bin file. So simple run it and install it. Also we can use other installer build in tar.bz2 archive - for all other Linux distro.
Download Adobe Reader:
1. Go to: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/9.x/9.5.5/enu/
2. Chose build .deb, rpm, bin or tar.bz2 and download it.
3. If you chose .deb or .rpm, you can simple install it by double click and press install by default of faborite install manager like Ubuntu Software Center or Synpatic or using command line in console / terminal. Also simple install .bin file, double click and follow the instructions of the installer.
4. Done

Mimo braku wsparcia program działa dobrze na Linuksie i wciąż jest zaliczany do jednego z lepszych, a do tego jest wymagany przez niektóre aplikacje jak chociażby eDeklaracje.
Pobierz Adobe Reader:
1. Idź do strony: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/9.x/9.5.5/enu/
2. Wybierz paczkę .deb, .rpm, instalator .bin lub archiiwum tar.bz2 i pobierz.
3. Instaluj paczkę .deb lub .rpm dowolnym menażerem oprogramowania np. Centrum Oprogramowania Ubuntu lub przez konsolę. Jeżeli wybrałeś instalator .bin, uruchom instalator (dwuklik) i podążaj za instrukcjami instalatora.
