The original Castlevania was a major hit for Konami’s home division in the mid 80s. Naturally, they thought, it might make a good arcade game too? Thus, unlike most games franchises from the time period, Castlevania actually started off on the NES FIRST and then would later end up in the arcades. The reverse of how things normally worked.
