Alfred Chicken is a platform video game that first appeared on the Game Boy in its monochrome version, with later revisions including a Super Game Boy version and a NES edition. Developed by Twilight and published by Mindscape, the game was released in 1993 and 1994 for various platforms, including Amiga, Amiga CD32, Game Boy, NES, and Super NES.

In the game, players control Alfred, a courageous chicken, on a quest to rescue his friends from the clutches of the Meka Chickens who have turned them into eggs. Alfred must navigate through peculiar levels filled with oddities like balloons, telephones, and cheese. He can walk, jump, and peck balloons and ground switches while on the ground, and dive bomb enemies or springs while airborne, which destroys foes and propels him to higher platforms.

The main objective of each level is to find and peck all the balloons, with the last balloon leading to a boss fight. If Alfred dies, he restarts as an egg at the last balloon pecked. The Super NES version also includes a Stage Clear message after finding the big balloon.

Throughout the game, Alfred can obtain power-ups like a pot of jam that grants him a bomb-throwing ability and a spinning worm that eliminates enemies. The NES version features five levels.

In addition to its quirky gameplay, Alfred Chicken had a marketing campaign with the creation of the "Alfred Chicken Party" for the 1993 Christchurch by-election, and a toll-free number where players could listen to a promotional speech by Alfred himself.

The game was praised for its challenging gameplay. Alfred Chicken remains a curious and charming addition to the platformer genre.
