In 1992, at about the same time Mortal Kombat introduced gamers to it's blood-soaked fighting and gruesome fatalities, this quirky little shooting game provided it's own brand of blood-soaked violence not typically seen at the time.

The aim of the game is to kill a series of alien opponents by shooting their various body parts off. This violence serves a strategic purpose too- shoot the legs off for example, and you'll reduce your opponent's mobility, making them much easier to hit. Between levels, you'll play bonus rounds to earn more money, which can then be used in a shop to buy different kinds of weapons.

It's an interesting idea for a game and it more or less comes off. That said, it is possible to put yourself in an unwinnable situation if you don't buy enough weapons in the shop since you don't return to the shop upon losing a life. This also means you're discouraged from experimenting with all the different weapons as you'll likely just stick with 2 or 3 weapons you find useful.

But as far as historical curiosities like this go, this one is actually worth checking out, if you're the kind of person who fancies blasting the legs off a dragon in gory ways.
