Alfred Tries To Play: Total Football (Sega Mega Drive)- Germany vs Japan
If you're going to make a diagonal football game, fine, but at least don't mess with the directional controls so that pressing the d-pad in a cardinal direction moves you diagonally. Someone clearly didn't tell Richard Walker this and as such, Total Football is quite difficult to play, meaning you often end up wandering in all sorts of directions as you try to get the ball and even when you do have it, missing the goal is pretty much inevitable.
And even if you manage to get used to the appalling controls, this game isn't that much fun anyway- a big flaw here is that the ball often tends to bounce off your players when you should get control of the ball.
Nice to know that there's an old football game out there that doesn't kowtow to American interests by calling it soccer (although this game never left Europe), but this is more Total Rubbish than Total Football.
