Alfred Tries To Play: World Cup USA 94 (Sega Mega Drive)- Scotland vs Cameroon
A lot of of football video games were released in and around the 1994 World Cup in America, so it stands to reason there'd be an officially licenced effort, and this is it. Unfortunately, like it's predecessor World Cup Italia 90, it isn't much good.
It's an inferior Sensible Soccer knockoff that is difficult to play because the controls aren't fast enough for the speed this game runs at (I'm playing this game at the slowest speed, imagine how much worse this problem gets at higher speeds). As such, the tactics can best be summed up as pass the ball as soon as you have it, or else you will be tackled.
In all, it's another crappy official cash-in that is only slightly better than it's Italian predecessor. At least this game has all the teams that actually appeared in the 1994 World Cup as well as a few who didn't make it (so England fans won't be left out).
Since choosing your own teams from the menu is needlessly complicated, I press Start on the main menu screen, which immediately starts a random exhibition match.
