AMD's Zen 4 performance is shaping up to be immense, likely outperforming Intel's processors - at least in more highly threaded applications, though from Raptor Lake (and in general, Intel's 7nm CPUs) we could see a more competitive fight.
But for Ryzen 7000 (zen 4) the IPC (thanks to a combination of architecture improvements, DDR5 memory and clock frequency bumps) will likely be one of the most significant CPU releases in modern memory for AMD.
The Ryzen 7000 series will likely keep core counts, so for example the Ryzen 9 7950X will still retain 16 cores 32 threads.
Zen 4 though will excel in multi threaded applications, with way more memory bandwidth compared to what's available to either Zen 3 or the Zen 3+ (Refresh)
Zen 3 refresh will be manufactured on the 6nm processor, and again Ryzen 6000 keeps the same core counts as Ryzen 5000. IPC bumps will be 4 - 12 percent depending on task and application. Games could likely do better on Intel's Alder Lake, but this isn't certain given the difficulties of 10nm, which seemingly isn't clocking quite as high as Intel would have liked.
With this said, Warhol is not going to be a huge upgrade, and for those very happy with their Ryzen 5000 series processors, it might be best to wait for AM5, which will bring Zen 4 and DDR5.
