An Indie, Action Roguelike Dungeon Crawler Bullet Hell! – Patch Quest –
Patch Quest Dungeon Crawler update Challenge mode!
Randomized dungeons with tons on modifies, 3 difficulty lvls, along with revamped and expanded monster abilities!
Patch Quest is an Indie, Twin Stick, Action Roguelike Dungeon Crawler Bullet Hell all about blasting through a huge, interconnected, random outdoor procedural dungeon while collecting pets, powerups and upgrades.
Patch Quest is good!
Combat and Monster Friends!
The player movement in Patch Quest is very fast, aiding your survivability against the hordes of charming, super cute monsters that want to put you down!
Plus, no bump damage here!
Enemies have a red outline when they are making an attack, which is your hint to move!
Enemies also seem to take much more damage when grayed out, so keep hitting them when they get tired to finish them off!
Or, you could lasso them!
Use your Lasso to capture and ride monsters.
You’re much stronger on your mount, as they have a dash, plus other abilities they can learn as you lvl them up.
But beware, your mounts can gray out too, becoming exhausted, and choosing to leave you, in which case, go lasso another!
You can also send monster mounts you like back home, so you can call them as allies using your whistle later; handy!
Powerups!
As you blast down monsters, you gain power; each pickup increases your stats and ability to handle the vast, deceptively dangerous dungeon.
Stats:
Riding: Boosts the power of mounts
Blasting: your blaster dps
Blocking: your max hp
Dodging: chance to take no damage on a hit
Afflicting: Afflict aliment build faster, and bonus damage on afflicted monsters
The Environment:
In Patch Quest, the dungeon feels alive!
There are many environmental effects, like mushroom fields that make you dizzy, plants that puff stinky gas, and mud that makes you sticky; the rooms certainly feel alive!
Plus bouncy mushrooms, lily pads to ride across the mud, nasty traps, and more!
These debuffs only fade a bit after you clear each room; good, as this prevents encouraging players to just wait around or even AFK to bleed off a debuff.
There are different zones too, like hills, jungle, woody woods, and many more!
Objects will wiggle when they hide a powerup; cool!
Ammo literally grows on trees here! Well bushes, but ya.
Also, you can travel back to previously visited rooms if you want, so you can go back and grab ammo or a mount you might want; handy.
Meta Progression:
After every dungeon run, you reset back to the baseline, except for your unlocked perks, and your lvled up monsters; which is the Meta Progression of Patch Quest; that and the monsters you send back to base, and the gates you unlock in the dungeons, along with the cosmetic decorations you collect for your camp.
So, there is plenty to unlock and discover here.
The Challenge Mode:
The Challenge mode here is more action roguelike vs. action roguelite mode, with randomized dungeons, just like in regular Patch Quest, but seemingly absent the meta progression and packed with tons of selectable modifiers, so could be a nice option if you want to hop into the dungeon without worrying about having to amass Meta Progression.
Local Multiplayer Split Screen Local Co-op is included in Patch Quest as well; always nice to see it!
Controller support is present, as is good old mouse and keyboard; both work excellently.
So, if an Action Roguelike, Twin Stick Shooter, Bullet Hell Dungeon Crawler interests you, give me a watch, and watch this super fun Action Roguelike in action!
