An Early Look at an Indie, Magic Quake like?! YES! – Protos Magos Demo –
13Protos Magos is an Indie, First Person Mage shooter FPS all about blasting down your many foes with your magic of choice.
Toss fireballs, shotgun your foes with ice blasts, lance them with spirit railguns, all the good stuff!
Plus, you can combine your spells to create new ones; bouncing blasts, create pools of caustic acid, light your foes on fire, fun stuff like that!
Protos Magos is all about the magic!
The Magic:
The spell effects look really cool, and both look and feel distinct from each other, preventing the spells from feeling the same; good.
Combining your spells is fun: The core initial spell determines the basic behavior of the spell, and further runes add augments to it.
There is some real choice to this here, as using a spell as an augment to another means you cannot cast it, as it is tied up buffing another spell.
There are also support spells on a cooldown you can find and use, you get 2; and can use the others as additional augments to your magical might!
Also, you can slot in passive abilities to further specialize and shape your character, adding a bit of RPG feel to this Magic FPS; cool!
Additionally, your character has some tricks they can do, free magic abilities they just kind of have; they can pickup and toss environmental objects like crates, buckets, and barrels at foes, and there are explosive barrels too; fun!
Also, you can reanimate the dead with e; it’s a default ability, with no apparent cost aside from a nearby skeleton, so go ahead and get your necro on!
Note: This is an early look at the demo for Protos Magos, so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Still, Protos Magos is a fun, fast paced magic FPS where the spells are the star, and is easily worth a wishlist and a watch.
