I take a look at taming the Rex in Ark: Survival Evolved for PC.

Technique 1: Use Tranq arrows to knock it unconscious, 30+ recommended depending on the level of the Rex you are taming.
Technique 2: Use your fists to knock it out, we've not yet tried this way :)

Tame time is roughly 1 - 1.5 hours or so, depending on the meat you use and the creature level (Prime or Cooked Prime makes it faster). Use Narcotics to keep torpor levels high, you will need probably 60+ Narcotics to do it.
